Ty Ekelemu knows what it takes to land your dream job and navigate the corporate world. With over a decade of experience in Corporate America, Ty has successfully led audit projects and inclusion and diversity (I&D) initiatives for Fortune 500 companies.
After noticing a lack of diversity at the management level, Ty became a champion for diversity, equity and inclusion beyond the workplace. She regularly participates on panels, hosts talks and leads workshops to lend her thought leadership on these topics. Throughout her career, she has been an active member in professional associations and employee resource groups. While working at GE Capital, she led diversity recruiting initiatives as the African American Forum Chicago Chapter Recruiting Committee Co-Chair. In that role, she helped the chapter win a coveted GE ICON award for developing strategic partnerships with the National Association of Black Accountants (NABA) and the Association of Latino Professionals For America (ALPFA). Her leadership helped increase the representation of Black and Latinx professionals in the company.
In 2017, Ty founded a boutique professional development and coaching firm designed to give women and people of color the real CAR (coaching, access, and resources) they need to accelerate their career goals.
In 2020, she packaged her job search knowledge and best practices into her APPLY > INTERVIEW > OFFER online job search accelerator program for diverse mid-career professionals. Also, in 2021 she launched the Dream To Job podcast. Through her program, she provides the roadmap for women and diverse professionals to find, get interviewed for and get offered the job of their dreams. She is credited to helping hundreds of underrepresented professionals harness their strengths, land their dream job and win in the workplace.
Ty’s corporate success and leadership involvement have helped her become a highly-sought after speaker for many conferences, events, and workshops. She has delivered numerous speeches throughout the country for both corporate and non-profit organizations, including GE Capital, The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), National Association of Black Accountants (NABA), National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA), Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA), Summer Search, Bottom Line, The Roxbury Innovation Center and Boston Speaks. Ty served on the Executive Board of the National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA) Boston chapter and is a former Board member of the NABA Chicago Chapter.
Ty is a Certified Internal Auditor and a Certified Third Party Risk Professional. She graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a degree in Accounting and received a Spanish Language Certificate from the Universidad Pan Americana in Mexico. She also completed the Boston Future Leaders program and an Executive Leadership Program at Harvard University.
